another elephant

so i hear baby elephants are good luck, why not have two or maybe three. I tattooed the other elephant that was in the Richard Avedon photo on the left side of my calf today. Had to take a break to go to class and going back into the tender parts was noooo fun. I liked how the tat turned out and maybe in a few years ill put one more on the shin.

Huntington beach

visited huntington beach this weekend with all my tattoo supplies. So far tattooed 6 people, each taking 1-2hours. Its been busy but lots of good tattoos to add to the portfoliosergio - name of his baby boy thats due sometime this month

blake - he let some guy tat his arm and it was done soooooo poorly. i tried my hardest to make it look decent enough for blake to be able to wear his short sleeve tees again.

brandon - my first coverup!, hahah so awesome, i got to replace his lil baby anchor with something a bit more manly. if you look real close you can still sorta see where the old anchor was.

trees take forever

Its 1:42 am and i finally just cleaned my arm and finished a very tedious tattoo. The tree was seperated into the two different types of color, additive and subtractive. The top half consisted of additive color rules, making the intersection points the mix of whatever two colors. The bottom was the same only following the rules of subtractive color. Magenta is still missing from the equation but im in the process of getting that color to finish the tree. I like how red and green mix to make yellow, rasta brah

Started a new tattoo on my arm this evening. The first tattoo i wanted was a tree and the one that i drew out seemed to detailed and complex to approach a tattoo shop with. I started with the tree trunk and thats as far as i got tonight. Tomorrow i will start coloring.

jewelry tatt

Tonight i turned a bracelet into a tattoo on someones wrist. The bracelet was a gift from her grandmother so it had some sorta special meaning behind it. This was the first time i got use colors to try and make something look metal. Colors used were white, stone grey, kamikaze blue, sky blue and three different concentrations of black.

So i had a buncha fun doing this tattoo. Got a chance to freehand a buncha line work and i always like that process, big ol' sense of accomplishment. Nikki handled all the needlework like a champ and rewarded me with the most generous pay off i have yet to receive, party! :]$$.

I got to tattoo my girlfriend this evening. each line represents a coordinate on the globe of her parents/grandparents heritage. I have now officially left my mark on everyone i live with excluding two puppies. hurray!

just thought id post a pic of the elephant on my leg prior to shading it in. People have strange responses when they ask me where i got my tattoo done and i tell them i did it on myself a few days ago. I guess young tattoo artists don't exist in the tattoo world besides people like me, operating out of the household. This summer i plan on changing that and start working towards getting bona fide .

humbolt

So i visited some friends in Arcata this weekend up in humbolt county. Brought my tattoo stuff to add color to my friend Kenton's octopus and Jessica's hummingbird. Coloring might just be my new favorite thing to do when it comes to tatooing. The octopus consisted of yellow, peach, red, brown, white, light purple, blue, and black ink.

Once Jessica sends me pictures of the hummingbird ill post. Also did a small simple lil flower in brown ink on my friend chelsea but didnt get a pic.

Skyline of Sf

I drew out and tattooed a sorta scribbly representation of the San Francisco skyline. I have wanted a tattoo to represent my birthplace for a while now so i figured why not. After it heals i plan on adding more detail to the buildings like windows and darken ones that are farther away. The tattoo took about an hour to complete and some areas were a real pain to reach like the back of the leg.

Pain scale = 6 - 9<-the shin hurt more then anywhere else so far

Tonight I tattooed an elephant on my calf that came from a Richard Avedon photo.

Calf pain scale = 5.4-7.8 <-near the front of the leg

The first set of tattoos I did on my own body were two dia de los muertos skulls that I sketched out beforehand. The above the knees spot was done for two reasons, one - easily concealable or displayable in good weather and two - easy to reach with gun without cramping body or hand. It was strange, i'm so used to the hunched over drawing position only this time there was no sketchbook just a buncha skin. The first one was the lady skull and she took about 2 and a half hours, The next night the other skull only took about an hour.

Pain scale of above the knee = 6.2-7.7 <-very bottom line close to the knee cap
